Jade C. Williams experienced a fortunate turn of events, as being in the right place at the right time proved to be advantageous.
According to Williams, a prominent figure in product leadership, it appears that the technology sector has identified her as a key player. A proud graduate of Howard University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and initially aimed to establish herself as a business owner and CEO. In a surprising development, a consulting firm known as Deloitte made contact with her, leading to an unexpected shift in her career trajectory. In 2014, she began her career with the company as a business technology analyst. Just two years later, she achieved a significant milestone by earning a promotion to the role of product management consultant.
“This marked my initial foray into the technology sector, where I engaged in tech advisory roles on the business side for Deloitte.” During an interview with AFROTECH, she stated, “That was the entry point for my work in product management and product advisory across Fortune 100 companies in the federal government.”
Williams achieved two more promotions during their tenure before departing after a six-year period.
Attending the AFROTECH Conference is expected to lead to new job opportunities for her. In August 2020, it was reported that she held a position as a product manager at Capital One for a short duration. In March 2022, she made a significant career move by joining VidMob as a senior Product manager. In her role, she spearheaded AI-powered solutions aimed at achieving positive outcomes for leading consumer brands, as noted on her LinkedIn profile. The initiative involved the development of Diversity Measurement Tools utilizing advanced machine learning and computer vision technologies.
“I had the opportunity to meet one of the co-founders at AFROTECH, and following our conversation, I was recruited to join the team, where I took on the role of leading that product,” she stated.
Williams took the helm of the division’s strategy, guiding the development of the product with the backing of a dedicated team comprising data scientists, engineers, and UX designers. A new tool has been developed to assist brands in collecting insights and evaluating demographic representation.
“It will take all of your advertising content across various social digital platforms, process it through advanced models and AI technology, utilizing computer vision to analyze the percentage of your ad content that features specific skin tones, ages, and genders,” she explained. “The system generates a report for users, providing insights into their current status regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. It also identifies areas where progress is necessary, highlighting opportunities for advancement.”
In a recent statement, she emphasized the significant capabilities of the technology, noting its ability to operate at scale. This allows for connections across various regions, markets, and industries, as well as across diverse social and digital platforms. She highlighted the importance of this functionality for global brands in assessing their advertising content comprehensively.
In a significant career shift, Williams has departed from VidMob, directing her efforts towards leveraging AI to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the future.
In a forward-looking announcement, she has revealed plans to launch the digital platform AI Girl in the first quarter of 2025. Communities are set to be empowered through the delivery of short-form content that highlights the latest updates and trends within the sector.
