A museum in Sanborn, Iowa, is having an open house for a big model train show.

An Iowa family is elevating their passion for model trains to new heights.

In Sanborn, Iowa, an open house took place on Wednesday at Yesterday’s Memories & Truck Museum, showcasing a new exhibit created by Michael Johnson from Des Moines. The display features a variety of model trains and train tracks that belong to Michael Johnson and his wife, Ann.

Johnson expressed his deep-rooted affection for trains, attributing it to his background as a member of a family of railroad workers in Sanborn.

“As a community known for its railway heritage, it is important to promote this aspect and ensure that the younger generation remembers our history. It truly brings me joy,” he stated. “The hope is that individuals will find as much enjoyment in the exhibit as I have experienced in collecting and assembling it.”

KCAU 9’s chief photographer Johnathan Mack made his way to Sanborn to document the sights and sounds of the exhibit. The video player above provides the opportunity to watch that content.
