A special election to replaced disgraced Republican Senator Bill Dix is now underway in Senate District 25 and progressive candidate Tracy Freese has that seat in her sights.
A small business owner with a strong duty to the community, Freese intends to bring a new, fresh perspective to Iowa’s government rather than the “stale, pale, and male” that has been the norm in Iowa politics.
“Elected politicians should come from all walks of life and genders,” Freese states on her website.
Professionally she spends her time helping family farms as a fee-only Chartered Trust and Estate Planner promoting fiduciary finance that puts the interest of the client before agent commission. “While most people believe that is the way the financial services industry currently operates, it does not,” Freese says. “Protecting Iowans from predatory finance is one of my main ambitions with this bid for the capital. It’s what I know.”
The wife and mother of three also works as an adjunct instructor at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, serves as Treasurer of the Black Hawk County 4H-FFA Foundation, and is currently Chair of the Grundy County Democratic Party.
Senate District 25 includes Grundy and Hardin Counties, as well as parts of Butler and Story. Find your polling place here.
