What: Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) Meeting
Why: The EPC is voting on whether or not to approve two Iowa Select factory farm applications that were already denied locally by Hardin and Humboldt Counties
When: Tuesday, February 20th at 9 am to 4 pm (Lunch provided)
Where: Iowa CCI Headquarters, 2001 Forest Avenue, Des Moines Iowa
Residents and county supervisors in Hardin and Humboldt counties have said NO to two Iowa Select factory farm applications, but Governor Reynolds’ DNR approved them anyway.
Join Iowa CCI on February 20th to stand with members in North Central Iowa as they demand the EPC deny these factory farm applications. Those wanting to participate are asked to join Iowa CCI at their headquarters at 2001 Forest Avenue in Des Moines to prep and then carpool to the hearings.
Iowa Select and other factory farm corporations are expanding at a record pace. In 2017 alone, there were 502 new or expanding factory farms in Iowa. With two new giant slaughterhouses, we know that number will only grow in 2018.
But communities are fighting back and saying enough is enough. one in five Iowa counties have demanded a moratorium, local control, or changes to the Master Matrix. We have momentum on our side. Will you stand up and fight back?
