Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement released an official press statement regarding Governor Kim Reynolds’ Condition of the State Address. It is as follows in its entirety:
“Gov. Reynolds ran through a laundry list of very real issues impacting everyday Iowans. Hidden behind her “new ideas,” however, is a plan to continue handing the reins of government over to corporate control.
Governing for corporate profits instead of what people are asking for, and need, is what got us into our current water, healthcare, and revenue crisis — it has led to a record number of impaired waterways, Iowans struggling to find affordable and accessible healthcare, and the continued redistribution of wealth to the top 1% of Iowans and out of state corporations.
Today we call for a new direction for Iowa: one that puts People and Planet First!”
To strike their message home Iowa CCI joined with other protestors and Gubernatorial Candidate Cathy Glasson to fill the rotunda of the capital. The protestors called for a $15 minimum wage and union rights as Reynolds made her way back to her office.
